Arrive with an idea, leave with a screenplay.

Learn to write your screen play in 6 classes over 9 weeks. Step by step guide on how to structure your story and write a screenplay. The course covers finding stories, breaking your script into 3 acts, working in sequences, crucial moments in story telling, the world of the character, character arc and plotting character growth, analysing scripts, objective and subjective drama, backstory, characters history and inner life, sub plots and sub plot characters and finally how to end a story.

Beginner's Film Production

A complete overview of the film industry and how each aspect and department works.  

The beginners workshop is designed to give a comprehensive overview of the film industry. It will help the individual identify which part of the industry they are most interested in. Classes will give a strong understanding of all departments and individual crew responsibilities: Director, Producer, Line Producer, Production manager, Art department, wardrobe, camera and lighting department, grips and locations.  It also covers basic understanding of all equipment, production and how to start and run a production company.  The course covers Pre-production, casting,

Writing & Directing:

Get your script ready to film and on it’s feet as a director 

  Bonnie’s film writing credits include The Story of an African Farm which has been sold world wide. Her current script Good Life has been offered distribution and a number of pre-sales have been concluded on the strength of the script. Students bring will bring in scripts which will be broken down and analised.  A scene will be chosen from the script and presented in class with step by step direction techniques given. A maximum of 6 Paricipating Students will be allowed and 6 Non-Participating Students (without their own script). Participating students bring in their scripts to be worked on and workshoped with actors

Advanced Film Production

How to write, finance, shoot and distribute your own film.

The absence of a studio system in South Africa requires that filmmakers get real about making their films and building a sound industry. As an independent filmmaker, Bonnie Rodini understands first hand the huge hurdles and issues during the course of making a film. She was involved in the film “The Story of an African Farm from writing the script, to raising all the finance, preparing the budget, international and local casting, finding the locations, marketing and selling the film world-wide (BBC, Sky, Showtime, Encore, Greece, Poland, Israel, China, Netherlands). The Advanced Film Workshop is an intensive film workshop to help independent filmmakers get their projects made. The course covers writing all material needed for finance applications i.e. log lines, synopsis, identifying genre and naming the film. It covers writers fees, copyright, contracts, casting LA agents and managers, starting and running a company for the film, creating a shooting schedule for budget purposes, production paperwork, how to create an accurate budget, funding available in SA, co-production treaties, insurance, finance structure, investment proposals, EPK's, marketing and selling the film, local and international distribution, film territory prices, minimum guarantees and pre sales.
